The population of Monaco Ville at Monaco is around 1,151. It is locally named as ‘Le Rocher’ which means ‘The Rock’ because it is located on a high rock that extends into Mediterranean Sea. The main attractions of Monaco ville are Cathedrale de Monaco which is an old Byzantine cathedral where Princess Grace of Monaco is buried and Oceanographic Museum bulit by prince Albert I of Monaco. Another famous place in Monaco Ville is Chapelle de la Misericorde built in the year 1639 where people take out a procession every year on the occasion of Good Friday.

The Royal palace of the of the prince of Monaco, which is also known as “Palais Princier” at Monaco Ville is worth visiting for its splendid architecture and grandeur. The changing of guard takes place everyday outside the palace before noon.

Monaco Ville of Monaco is beautiful and looks like a picture from Medieval Ages with its chapels, the red stoned streets and other old monuments. There are many good restaurants here offering gourmet delights when you come back from shopping the most wonderful items from the local markets of Monaco Ville.

Adjacent to Monaco Ville is Port Fontville which extends into Mediterranean Sea and is home to beautiful museums and great gift shops. Things worth buying are stamps and old coins.
