Where is Porto Alegre?
Porto Alegre, the capital city of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil, is located close to the Atlantic Ocean coast at the northernmost part of the freshwater Patos Lagoon. One of the largest cities in Brazil is situated at the junction of five rivers that flow into the lagoon. Porto Alegre was one of the host cities of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

How to Reach Porto Alegre?
By Air: Salgado Filho, located just over 4 miles from downtown, is the only international airport in Porto Alegre. Apart from connecting Porto Alegre with other Brazilian cities such as Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, and Brasilia, it also operates flights connecting the city with Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Miami, Santiago, Lima, Panama City, and Lisbon.
By Road: The bus station in downtown is served by both local and long-distance buses. Daily buses to Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay are available from here.
