Tourist attractions in Tajikistan – Fann mountains, Silk road, Sarez lake, Pamir mountains

Tajikistan, a place often dreaded for its terrorist neighbors has been declared as a safe place for tourism. The attractions in Tajikistan mainly comprise of the mountains, lakes, rivers, and the historical sites. Half of these attractions in Tajikistan are still under the cover as humans have not been able to reach those areas.

The most prominent among all the tourist attractions around Tajikistan is the Pamir mountains. Due to their magnanimous height they are also referred as the roof of the world. These snow covered mountain ranges have been attracting millions of adventurous sports lovers from all across the globe to practice mountaineering, skiing, etc.

After Pamirs, it is the Silk Road that tops the chart of attractions in Tajikistan. One of the oldest trade routes of silk sellers amidst the high ranges of the Pamir and Fann mountains in Tajikistan, it is a historical place that still offers you some reminisces of the old foreign trade between the Tajiks and the Chinese. The picturesque locale is very famous among the tourists who come here to spend some quality time with their loved ones.

Hissar Port which lies in the west of Dushanbe. The port, which was constructed somewhere between the 16th and 19th century, hosts two madrasas, a mausoleum, a desolated bastion, and a caravanserai.

The Fansky Gory or Fann mountains are also one of the largest tourist attractions in Tajikistan. The mountains provide you with some great scenic pleasure that you would cherish forever. The mountains lie in the north west of the country. They also provide an ideal spot for mountaineering, rock climbing, ice climbing, etc. Muztagh Ata and Kongur Tagh are two more mountains that allure climbers.

The Sarez Lake, located in the volcanic zone, is an inaccessible lake created as a result of an earthquake that hit Tajikistan in 1911. With over 700 animals the Dushanbe Zoo promises a memorable visit. The Tajikistan National Park, and the Pamir National Park are other tourist places for the nature lovers.

Other than the above mentioned list of attractions there are many other interesting tourist places in Tajikistan such as a museum at Khorog, Iskanderkul, Tajikistan National Museum, Historical Museum Of Sughd, Khoja Mashkhad Mausoleum (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Mausoleum Of Amir Khamza Khasti Podshoh, Ayni Opera Ballet Theatre, Nurek Dam, Buddhist temples and lakes at Penjikent, Barakat market in Dushanbe, etc.
