Managua is the capital city of Nicaragua, the largest Central American country Managua, the word itself means “surrounded by water” in the ancient Nahuatl language. The sprawling conurbation stands on the southwestern banks of Lake Managua.

In the eight decades from 1852 to 1930 it underwent massive urbanization. But in the massive earthquake of 1972 the city was almost destroyed, but it is a tribute to the spirited resilience of the citizens that today it is regarded as one of the greenest cities in the world.

Managua is located at the coordinates 12° 8′ N 86°1 5′ W a few degrees above the Equator.

Reaching there :

Managua is excellently connected to all of Nicaragua, as all its main arterial highways run to Managua. Managua also has an airport which serves the regular flights from Corn Island, Bluefields and San Carlos. Apart from local national flights, international flights also operate from here.

Sightseeing in Managua : 

Managua is extremely scenic in itself due to its proximity to Lake Managua and the volcanoes. But Managua also has excellent museums and art houses and concert halls, all contributing to the cultural scenario of the Nicaraguan capital.
