Located in West Africa, The Gambia is almost entirely surrounded by Senegal, except for its 80 kilometers (50 miles) of coastline along the Atlantic Ocean. The Gambia was named for the Gambia River that flows through it, and over 1,300 square kilometers of the country’s territory is water.
