Cinque Terre



Cinque Terre, Italy was discovered in the late 20 th century. Cinque Terre is a favorite and most popular tourist destination in Italy. Cinque Terre, Italy has been declared as a world heritage site by UNESCO. The five villages with a long stretch of coastline and the hills make this place a beautiful tourists spot.

The five villages are : Riomaggiore, Manrola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare. A local train line connects all the five villages from La Spezia to Genia. The journey is through a tunnel beside the Mediterranean Sea . There is also a ferry service connecting the five villages. The ferry service is not available at Corniglia as it does not have natural harbor. There is a walking trail connecting the five villages. The road from Riomaggiore to Manarola i s known as Via Dell’Amore which roughly means “Lovers Walk”.

The path is along the shore and a walk on these lanes is a beautiful experience. The road to Cognilia which starts from Manrola finishes at point where an array of 368 stairs starts. The paths are around steep hills and passes through a stretch of vineyards and olive orchards. A fees has to be paid to use these walking trails.

The attraction of these villages are that, all the villages have inns or small hotels where tourists can stay. Proximity of the sea gives one an opportunity to have amazing sea foods. The grapevines all around the place have also helped in developing fine wineries. So one visiting this place can also get a taste of wine along with amazing seafoods.

Overall, a trip to Cinque Terre, Italy is a pleasant trip to enjoy and live with throughout the life.
