The Treasure Island is located in the San Francisco Bay. Though it sounds a little clichéd, this island is truly unique; after all it is a man-made island! Alongside is the Yerba Buena Island – which is a natural island. These two islands are connected by an isthmus. The island has a side-walk that goes around the whole island, almost bordering it. Originally planned to be made into an airport, the Treasure Island was finally converted into a residential area after the airport was finally made in Mills Field. The other singular thing about the island is the fact that there is just one public bus plying in and providing service to the whole of the island. This island, however, is not exactly your typical tourist destination.

Since it is and artificially created land mass, the Treasure Island is absolutely flat – there are no land form variations.

The Treasure Island was actually made to host celebrations for the constructions of two bridges – the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge . This celebration was termed as the Golden Gate International Exposition . The official buildings in the island are structured in a variation of the ‘Art Deco’ style, which is technically known as the ‘Streamline Moderne’. Reaching the island is easy with the Treasure Island being accessible via road, air and also water.
