Faneuil Hall Marketplace – a Popular Tourist attraction in Boston, USA

Built as a marketplace and meeting hall, Faneuil Hall is a popular tourist attraction in Boston. The building was mostly burnt down in a fire in 1761, but it was rebuilt the following year, and later expanded in 1805. Today, Faneuil Hall consists of three buildings: North Market, Quincy Market, and South Market featuring a variety of shops and restaurants. While sometimes criticized as a tourist trap, the Quincy Marketplace Colonnade offers stalls full of merchants selling locally produced food and goods, homemade treats, coffee, and more.

Shopping at Faneuil Hall Marketplace can be fun as there more than 100 of the finest shops and specialty pushcarts. The list of some of the popular stores include A Hat For Every Head, Ann Taylor, ArtsBoston’s BosTix Booth, Belt Stop, Best of Boston, Boston Campus Gear, Boston Harley Davidson, Boston Logos, Boston Pretzel & Lemonade, Boston Tote, Godiva Chocolatier, L.E.D. Land, L’Attitude Boston Boutique, Lucky Décor, Musically Yours, Newbury Comics, Old Town Trolley Tours of Boston, Samsonite, Sunglass Hut & Watch Station, Teeny Billboards, Victoria’s Secret, Wicked Good Cupcakes and Yankee Candle Company.

The Marketplace won’t let you roam with an empty stomach. There are several dining areas in the Hall that serve lip-smacking delicacies. McCormick & Schmick’s, Cheers, Gourmet India, Ned Devine’s Irish Pub, and Anthem Kitchen + Bar are the best ones.

In addition to the shops and restaurants, live entertainment is commonly seen throughout the year, and includes jugglers and mimes, acrobats, magicians and musicians, as well as many festivals. You can check out the official event calendar if you are interested in watching the street performances or taking part in the events.
