Uruguay Population



Majority of the Uruguay population is made up of white immigrants from Continental Europe. The whites dominate the population of Uruguay with their numbers adding up to more than 85% of the Uruguayan populace. Blacks or persons of African ancestry constitute about 15% of the total Uruguay population. Mestizos or persons of mixed Indian and African ancestry complete the picture. Uruguay displays a developed country’s population characteristics in a third world environment.

The population growth of the South American country is computed to be approximately 0.7%. The total population of Uruguay is 3,460,607 at 2007 count.

This numbers makes it one of the least populated countries in the world. Uruguay is ranked 126 of a total of 193 nations in the United Nations.
