Dumfries and Galloway is a part of the 32 unitary council zones of Scotland. The beautiful region is situated to the west of Southern Uplands, which contains the counties of Dumfriesshire, Wigtownshire, and Kirkcudbrightshire. The latter two counties together are called Galloway. The administrative headquarters is situated in the town of Dumfries.
