Danube River Cruise

Danube River Cruises are organized over the Danube River, which was named by the Greek king Herodotus who was also known as “The King of the European Rivers”. The Danube delta is formed in the region where the mighty river meets the Black sea, thus ending its 670 miles long journey. One of the splendid sights offered by the Danube River Cruises is the wildlife reserve at the Danube Delta which bears more than 160 species of freshwater and salt-water fishes and 300 varieties of birds.

The Danube River Cruises are organized around the year by famous cruise companies like Value World Tours, Uniworld, Vantage Deluxe World Travel, and Scylla Tours. River Cruises in Romania can be carried out on privately owned boats as well. This includes a few legal formalities like the passport check and a technical inspection of the yacht or the boat. The two Danube checking points are at Drobeta Turnu Severin and Orsovo.

The River Cruises on the Danube also provide a wonderful opportunity to encounter the ruins of the Roman Bridge at Drobeta, the Iron Gates Dam, the Topolnita Cave, and a visit to the cities of Orsova, Severin, Oltenita, Galati, Giurgiu, Tulsea and Braila. Two of the cities situated on the banks of the Danube River provide an access to Bucharest, the capital city.

The Danube River Cruises also organize visits to the magnificent country sides with villagers selling their products, visits to other places of historical interest like Tito’s Memorial, Saint Sava Cathedral, Vidin the ancient Bulgarian town, the Museum town of Arbanassi, Peter and Paul Monastery, the Opera House, Cathedral of Peter and Paul, the Great Mosque, the vineyards of Murfatlar, Ceausescu’s Palace and the “Count Dracula Club”.
