La Condamine Region



La Condamine is a resort near the sea coast of Monaco. La Condamine is the oldest district of Monaco and a major business center for Monaco and a popular tourist destination too. There are several subdivisions too located in La Condamine.

These are Moneghetti, La Colle and Les Revoires.

La Condamine is located in the vicinity of Monte Carlo. La Condamine literally means the land, which lies at the foot of a castle and can be cultivated. La Condamine lives up to its name and is beautiful with lush greenery around. At the harbour of La Condamine lies the personal yacht of Prince of Monaco. A commission has been established by Prince Albert I for guarding the yachts taking off from La Condamine shores for it has been a hub of trade since the year 1900. To safeguard the water of the port a 352m long seawall has been constructed. Ever since it has become one of the finest ports on the shores of Mediterranean Sea where many vessels dock thus providing a strong support for the sea trade of Monaco.

The total area of La Condamine is 237, 283m Square and has a population of 3,847. La Condamine is a great place for shopping of unique items. The nearby markets sell many gift items for tourists to pick up. ‘Place de Armes’ is an open-air market in the main shopping street named ‘Rue Grimaldi’. There is a pedestrian street named after Princess Caroline of Monaco.

There are many attractions worth watching in La Condamine. There is a cathedral of St. Devote built in the eleventh century which is dedicated to Saint patron of Monaco’s royal family. This chapel is beautiful and presents a magnificent example of architecture.

Apart from this a there are a number of good hotels in La Condamine offering luxurious accommodation where you can stay and enjoy the murmur of the sea and watch the mesmerizing beauty of the surroundings.
