Chile Culture is very rich and is largely influenced by the European heritage that prevails in the cultural structure of the country from the very beginning of the establishment.

Chile has always been one of the most progressive countries in America in the field of art and culture. Paris education, which had been brought in the country by several Chilean intellectuals, left noticeable impact on the cultural aspect of Chile.




People of Chile

The inhabitants of the country are a combination of both indigenous groups and Spanish. This has been the result for the country being occupied by the Spaniards for a long period. Roman Catholic is the religion that most of the population follows. The natives are culturally very rich and enjoy doing several cultural activities.


Art and Culture of Chile

Art and culture of the country includes:

  • Art and Literature – The Nobel Prize winners Pablo Neruda and Gabriel Mistral, the two legendary masters of literature are from Chile. The museums displaying the creations of these masters are the pride of the natives.
  • Chile Music – Since 1960’s Chile’s music especially folk music gained its international popularity, which continued till today. There are several famous groups that crates perfect blend of modern and old traditional music of Chile.
  • Dance and Festivals of Chile – Dance and festivals are integral part of the country’s culture. Cueca is the national dance of Chile, which signifies the glory of the rebellion against the Spaniards. Several festivals are celebrated in all parts of the country throughout the year.

Chile culture is also largely affected by the physical diversities of the country, which ranges from towering volcanoes, lakes and forests.
