West Lake is a beautiful natural lake in Hangzhou. Tourists can include this lake in their Beijing tour. West Lake, China was actually a sea inlet. Due to silt deposition, it has formed a lake.

West Lake in Hangzhou has a depth of about 5 feet. It stretches for an area of about 5.68 sq km. West Lake can be divided into five sections. The Outer Lake is the largest of the five sections. The other sections that bound the Outer Lake are namely, West Inner Lake, North Inner Lake, Lesser South Lake and Yuehu Lake.

West Lake draws a number of tourists to Beijing. The surrounding region is hilly and it adds to the scenic beauty of the lake. This lake region is reflective of ancient Chinese gardens. The serene beauty of the natural environment entices travelers.

Tourists can also have a view of the Island of Little Oceans. It is a man-made island, situated in the Outer Lake. They can also go for boating in the lake. During the Autumn Moon Festival, the view of the lake region becomes more fascinating. The sight of the lake water reflecting the moon lit sky is a splendid and much coveted spectacle to the tourists.
