Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan, is a modern industrial cosmopolitan located in the Hissar valley. With an ever increasing population dominated by Tajiks and Russians, it also serves as the base of the cultural and the educational world of Tajikistan.

History of Dushanbe Tajikistan :

The history of Dushanbe at Tajikistan arguably goes as back as to the pre-Christian era. However, it has experienced an extremely tumultuous history in the recent times. It was at the eye of the political storm in the times of the Russian revolution. In the times following the World war II, this little town hidden away in the folds of the Pamir mountains shot into significance.

The Soviet government intended to shift many of its political and industrial operations here, in order to shield them from the direct ravages of the war. In the years following the war, the name of the city was changed from Dyusambe to Stalinabad. Kruschev changed the name back to Dushanbe, thereby harking back to its original name after the busy Monday markets of the area.

Dushanbe Tajikistan Now :

The early days following the cessation of in 1990 from the erstwhile Soviet Union were far from easy. However, Dushanbe is presently Tajikistan’s major industrial area. Industrial machinery and marketing of local food produces have joined the tradition of textile production. Dushanbe Tajikistan is also the leading cultural center of state. Television, film, as well as the broadcasting and the publishing industries also have their base around this city. It also houses the best universities and the educational institutions of the country.
