Mzuzu City Guide



Mzuzu city is the capital of the northern region of the Republic of Malawi. Mzuzu in Malawi is the third largest city of the Republic of Malawi. Mzuzu city is located by the junction of Malawi’s main north-south highway and the Lakeshore road.

As per the census report of the year 2003 Mzuzu city in the Republic of Malawi includes a total population of 119,592.

Mzuzu city has a university known as the Mzuzu University which was founded in the year 1994. In the southern side of this city you can find a man-made forest called the Viphya Forest. This forest is considered as the largest man-made forest of Africa. Mzuzu city of Malawi is served by an airport called the Mzuzu Airport.

Mzuzu city is located in an area which is situated just in the heart of the agricultural region of this country.

Mzuzu city area is popular for the production of many crops like tea, coffee and rubber. The economy of this city in Malawi is largely based on the production of coffee. The government of Malawi exports Mzuzu Coffee through out the world as Gourmet Coffee. In the local market also you can find Mzuzu coffee which is being sold as Gourmet Coffee.

Recently this city of the Republic of Malawi has grown rapidly with its hotel industries. Mzuzu includes one popular luxury hotel which is known as the Sunbird Mzuzu hotel, as well as numerous small hotels.
