Macedonia weather is characterized by a climate which fluctuates between a Mediterranean and continental type of climate all year round. Macedonia weather is highly variable and unpredictable.
While the valleys of the Vardar and Strumica rivers have temperate Mediterranean type of climate, the interior parts have a moderate continental type of climate. The interior areas of Macedonian country have warm and dry summers and cold, wet winters.
The proximity of the Macedonian country to the Aegean Sea river basin and the mountains with an average height of above 2000 meters, the climate of Macedonia is sufficiently influenced by these factors. Consequently, the country receives an unequal amount of rainfall which is about 500-700mm on an average in a year in different parts of the country.
The temperature differences also fluctuate a lot, like for instance, in summers the temperatures can reach up to 40°C in the agricultural lands and in winters the temperatures can drop down to -30°C in the same regions. The mountainous climate in the Macedonian region is characterized by long, snowy winters and short, cold summers. The spring season is colder than the fall season in Macedonia.
The warmest region of Macedonia is Demir Kapija. Macedonia has a total of 30 weather stations all throughout the country.
