Latvia Visa



It is the responsibility of the Latvia Consulate or the Embassy to issue visa basing on the eligibility. The Consulate of the Republic of Latvia can issue the Latvia Visa within 7 days of the receipt of required documents for a Latvia Visa. The Consulate can also demand for other documents supporting the eligibility of the applicant. In all it may require a maximum of 30 days to issue a Latvia Visa.

The European Union or the EU and the countries belonging to the European Economic Zone or the EEZ have special permission to cross the Latvia border, provided the necessary and valid travel documents are produced. These documents include passports or identity cards. These travel documents can be used for traveling in Latvia, till they are valid.

A six-month validity period allows the Citizens of the European Union and European Economic Zone to stay in Latvia for 90 days. On registering themselves with the Department of Citizenship and Migration, they can extend their stay beyond the 90 days limit.

Following are the countries that have the permission to enter Latvia without a Latvia Visa:

  • Lithuania
  • Argentina
  • Liechtenstein
  • Australia
  • Luxembourg
  • Austria
  • Macao
  • Belgium
  • Malaysia
  • Bolivia
  • Malta

Some of the other countries that do not need Latvia Visa to enter the Baltic country are Brazil, Mexico Brunei, Monaco, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Czech Republic, Nicaragua, Chile, Norway,Costa Rica, Panama,Croatia, Paraguay, Cyprus, Poland, Denmark, Portugal, El Salvador, Romania, Estonia, San Marino etc.
