Guangdong, also called Yue in short, is located in south China and has Guangzhou as its capital city. Rich in natural, historical and cultural heritage, Guangdong is now also progressing towards big economic developments. Home to many industries, Guangdong one of China’s fastest growing provinces.

Guangdong Province covers an area of over 180,000 square kilometers. Having the longest coastline in the country, Guangdong has many rivers meandering through it. Rivers from all over the province flow through the fertile Pearl River Delta and finally discharge into the South China Sea. Guangdong has a climate marked by high temperature and plentiful rainfall. July is the hottest month in Guangdong whereas January here records the lowest temperatures. Guangdong experiences a mean annual precipitation of about 1,500 to 2,000 millimeter every year.




Guangdong got its nickname Yue from the Yue people who resided here almost thousands of years ago. The present population of Guangdong is about ninety million, comprising mainly of Han, Yao, Zhuang, and Manchu, ethnic groups.


Guangdong boasts of many natural and historical sites and sceneries. Some of the natural attractions of Guangdong are Yuexiu Hill in Guangzhou, botanical garden of South China, Xiqiao Mountain, Conghua Hot Springs, the Yuexiu Park, the Seven Star Crags, and Dinghu Mountain.
