Where is Niagara Falls Located?

Niagara Falls is located in North America, on the border between New York in the United States, and the province of Ontario, in Canada. In fact, there are three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls, they are; Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls, and the Bridal Veil Falls. Of these three, Horseshoe Falls is the largest and is situated on the border between Canada and the United States. The other two falls – the American Falls and the Bridal Veil – are located entirely on the US side. Goat Island separates Horseshoe Falls and the American Falls, while Luna Island separates Bridal Veil from the other waterfalls.

All three waterfalls comprise a vertical drop of more than 165 feet (50 meters). Because of this, they have the highest flow rate in the world. Horseshoe Falls is not only the biggest among the three but is also the strongest in all of North America. An important source of hydroelectric power, the Horseshoe Falls is located between the twin cities of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and New York. It is some 17 miles north-northwest of Buffalo, NY, and 75 miles south-southeast of Ontario’s capital, Toronto.

Niagara Falls, which has been mentioned in various songs and literature, has also been the setting for various films and television serials. Known for its astounding beauty, Niagara Falls is one of the world’s most popular tourist attractions and a paradise for honeymooners. It has been estimated that around 12 million tourists from across the world visit the falls every year. Visitors on the Canadian side can witness the dazzling floodlights that brighten up both sides of the falls. Queen Victoria Park offers views of both the American and Horseshoe Falls. Tourists on the American side can view the waterfalls from Prospect Point Park.
