Last month we posted thematic maps on Africa where we highlighted the countries with low Human Development Index (HDI). This time around our team has developed similar thematic maps for Europe. HDI or ‘Human Development Index’ is a standard way of measuring life expectancy, literacy, education and standards of living. In essence it helps us in understanding and measuring well-being and quality of life in a country, especially for children. The European thematic maps on HDI show quite a different story compared to African HDI thematic maps, a reality check for our world. Thematic Maps updated for Europe:
