Remote Sensing

It is the process of measurement or acquisition of information about any object or phenomenon, by a recording device that works on a non-contact technique. It is basically gathering information from distance, like, Earth observation and weather satellite, space probes, monitoring of a pregnancy via ultrasound. Different techniques are used for acquisition of data these include Radiometric- Radar and Lidar, Geodetic, Acoustic- Sonar and Seismograms. The data acquired by these techniques is then processed mainly on the inverse problem principle. Remote sensing is used in geology, cartography, hydrology and meteorology. It also find use in the calculation of surface temperature, productivity, and suspended materials.
