There are over 25 miles of hiking trails, along with fishing, horse trails, and rock climbing.     Assateague Island National Seashore :<\/h3>\n

    The site is known as a barrier island and boasts of migratory waterfowl, golden beaches, and wild horses. Life on Assateague Island has adapted to an existence on the move. One can explore sandy beaches, salt marshes, maritime forests, and coastal bays. One can go fishing and crabbing. Horseback Riding is allowed seasonally along the beach in the Over Sand Vehicle (OSV) zone.<\/li>\n

    The Park is between the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers and allows you to step back into the past. There are live historic events that take place throughout the year allowing you to look into American History.     This park bears the imprint of the canal transportation system from 1828 to 1850. Providing canal travel options between Cumberland and Washington DC, the park today showcases aqueducts and locks that were used in the ancient period.
