The independent\u00a0city of Danville<\/b>\u00a0lying within the Commonwealth of Virginia, is bound on both sides by the Pittsylvania county of Virginia and the Caswell county of North Carolina.<\/p>\n

Danville<\/b>\u00a0has also remained witness to the greatest tragedy in American rail history in 1903 when the Old 97, a locomotive fell off a ridge and killed about 9 people.
