It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Valley. The name of the temple means “Lord of Pashus”. The word ‘pashu’ refers to all animals including humans. The nine animals viz., monkey, cow, snake, deer, rat, tiger, ox, lion, and, dog are regarded as sacred for being the means of transportation of Hindu Gods. Thus, people are not allowed to kill them. You will be able to see monkeys roaming leisurely around the temple. Visit the temple and know about the local legends associated with the temples.
Kathmandu Durbar Square
The Kathmandu Durbar Square with its courtyards, palaces, and temples attracts visitors from all around the globe. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is located in the center of the old Kathmandu city. Various important sites in this square are the Hanuman Dhoka Royal Palace, Ashok Vinayak Temple, Kumari Ghar – the residence of Living Goddess, Kumari, etc. A visit to the Square is an enlightening experience.
Lumbini is the blessed land where Lord Gautam Buddha was born. It is identified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The main attraction in Lumbini is the Mayadevi temple, dedicated to the mother of Lord Buddha.
