Old Montreal – A land lost in time…

An artist by profession, I was always mesmerized by various art styles. So, I was not disappointed when I decided to visit Montreal. The city of Montreal was established by French inhabitants, which can be seen  in the architectural style. All those details and carvings on the buildings portray a royal feel. As I was walking on the streets of Old Montreal, or Vuix Montrialé as people say, I was completely lost in those long alleys with art galleries and restaurants. Old Montreal is like a mini-France which starts right after crossing the Basilica of Notre Dame. There are many things a traveler can enjoy doing there.

Top Things to do in Old Montreal

#1 Take a walk:

During my stay in Montreal I went almost everyday to old Montreal just to admire the beauty of  the French architecture. One cannot feel bored while walking down those narrow lanes. Although many of the buildings are left to be as tourist destinations, some of them are converted into either hotels or offices.

#2 Shopping:

If someone is an art admirer they can shop for souvenirs, paintings, and many other art pieces from the local galleries present in the alleys here.

#3 Buggy ride:

Awwhh! Riding the horse chariot in the streets of Old Montreal fills the heart with joy. It actually gives you that royal feeling and throws you back in time when the local guide explains about the history of the place.

#4 Eat, love, and pray!

Yes, there are plenty of cafes available in the vicinity where one can sit, relax, and enjoy the splendid alleys while sipping a drink! Although many of the cafes and restaurants here close their patios in winters because of the snow, you can still enjoy the food while listening to some local bands from inside the restaurant.
