Chiang Rai was founded by King Mrng Rai in 1262. Chiang Rai Thailand is actually a province located in the north of Thailand. The Chiang Rai province in Thailand covers an area of 11,678 square kilometer and has a population of 1.23 million.
The Chiang Rai Thailand is located at 580 meters above sea level. This area is surrounded byMyanmar in the North and Laos in the North and Northeast.

The Chiang Rai in Thailand is also noted for its some beautiful festivals. One of the famous festivals of the place is the King Meng Rai Festival, which includes competitions, parades and celebrates in the name of the king. This festival continues from 26th January to 1st February. Another is the Songkran Festival, which is the New Year celebration of the Thai people. This celebration is followed by cultural programs and beauty contests. Then there is Lychee Fair, which celebrates the most tasty fruits of the area, agricultural displays, local handicrafts and folk entertainment.

The Chiang Rai in Thailand also offers to its tourists various shopping centers, entertainment centers, museums, parks and other recreational spots. Some of the noted places of the province are Mae Fa Luang Farm, Phrathat Doi Tung, Golden Triangle, Doi Tung Zoo, Doi Tung Royal Villa. There are also many hospitals and schools available in close vicinity of the Chiang Rai in Thailand.
