  • Career: Teofilo Stevenson participated in the 1972 Munich Summer Games as a representative of his country, Cuba. In the competition, he won gold medal in the heavyweight category. Stevenson also won gold medal in the 1974 World Boxing Championships. In the 1976 Montreal Summer Games , he successfully defended his Olympic title in the heavyweight category. Following the 1976 Games, Stevenson got a chance to become a professional boxer. However, he preferred to remain an amateur in the sport. Stevenson competed in the 1980 Moscow Summer Games and won his third Olympic title in the event. With his achievements, Stevenson became the second boxer in the history of Olympics to win three gold medals in the Olympic boxing competition. In his boxing career, Stevenson won 302 fights and he lost only 22 fights. Shortly after the 1980 Summer Games, he retired from the sport. In 1986, at the age of 36, Stevenson won the World Championships.

In the 1972 Munich Summer Games , Stevenson won gold medal in the heavyweight category of boxing competition. In the 1976 Montreal Summer Games , Stevenson won his second Olympic gold medal in the heavyweight boxing competition. During the competition, he defeated his first three competitors in a record time of 7 minutes and 22 seconds. In the final fight, he defeated Mircea Simion of Romania. Stevenson had his third appearance at the Olympic sin the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics . In the Games, he won the third Olympic title of his career defeating Pyotr Zayev of the USSR in the final fight.
