Mansa Devi temple is dedicated to Goddess Mansa. Mansa Devi is one of the aspects of Shakti. Mansa Devi temple is located in Dev Bhoomi, Haridwar in Uttrakhand state. The temple is built atop of Billav hills on the east side of Shivalik range which is the southern mountain range of Himalayas. The temple is also known as Billav temple. The Mansa devi temple is among 53 siddha-peetha and also among panch-teertha in Haridwar. One can view whole of the Haridwar city from this temple. Devotees can reach this place via 3 km of trekking. Cable car or ropeway is also available to reach the temple. Mansa means desire or wish, so devotees come here to fulfil their this wishes. After fulfilment, the devotees open the thread. There are twol idols of Mansa devi in the temple. One idol is having three faces and five arms while the other idols has eight arms each carrying a weapon. Mansa Devi is one of the three Shakti peetha in Haridwar. The other two being are Chandi devi and Maya devi. These three temple together make a triangle. It is believed that both Mansa Devi and Chandi devi are two forms of Goddess Parvati and are very close to each other. It is also believed that Mansa Devi originated from Lord Shiva as a shakti.
