72.5 meters high, the Qutub Minar is India’s tallest minaret. The monument is an important identity of the city of Delhi and even the Delhi metro card has its image. Made of red sandstone and marble, the Qutub Minar’s construction was commenced by Qutub-ud-din Aibak in 1192 and was completed by Iltutmish.

Kutub Minar is an amazing tourist destination in Delhi. Over the years, the archaeological society of India has done a very good job of maintaining it. The large lawns are well maintained and clean. Apart from tourists, lot of local people visit the monument. This used to be a favourite picnic spot, but I think you are no longer allowed to carry food inside. It's quite amazing
