Haeju Map




Haeju is a city in North Korea. It is situated in the province of South Hwanghae very near to the Haeju Bay. The city lies between the longitudinal coordinates of 38°02'N and the latitudinal coordinates of 125°43'E.

Haeju has been an important city since ancient times. During the 20th century, it was as an important port and facilitated Sino-Korean Trade. The economy of the city is driven by the cement industry. There are also a number of chemical enterprises present here. These factories add to the economy of the city in a significant way and are the major source of income for many people.

Haeju is known as the birthplace of Kim Ku and An Jung-geun who have carved a place in the history of North Korea for their patriotism.

The city has a number of tourist attractions. The temples and forts provide a historical charm to the city. Haeju Tarani Temple, Puyong Temple, Sohyonso Temple, Mountain Suyang Fort etc. are the some of the interesting spots which one must visit while on a trip to Haeju.

The natural tourist attractions present in the city are are the Suyangsan Falls, the orchards which should not be missed while visiting Haeju.

It is also an important center for education. Haeju University of Education is a unique knowledge center and attracts a large number of students every year.
