The city of Anju (officially known as Anju-si in North Korea) is known for its natural beauty and provides tourists with a number of attractions. Ch'ongch'on River is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the city. The tourists can take a boat ride through the Ch'ongch'on River to reach the Rangrim Mountains of Chagang Province. The Ch'ongch'on River flows through the city to merge into the Yellow Sea at Sinanju. Ch'ongch'on River, which is a renowned river of North Korea, covers a distance of 217 kilometers.

A city in the South Pyongan Province of North Korea, Anju is positioned at the coordinates of 39.62° N 125.66° E. To the north of the city lie North P'yongan and Chagang while South Hamgyong and Kangwon border the east and southeast respectively. To the south of Anju are located important centers such as North Hwanghae and P'yongyang. The western flanks of the city are occupied by the Yellow Sea and Korea Bay.

To avoid the menacing winter and incessant rainfall, visit the city in the months of May, June, September and October.

Anju is well-connected by air. Air Koryo, a North Korean airline, and China Southern, an airline of China, provide direct flights to Pyongyang from Beijing. Local transport is available for Anju, which is only a few kilometers away from Pyongyang.
