Dosso is a very important town in Niger, which is located at the south western border of the country. The city of Dosso is placed at a distance of eighty six kilometers in the south eastern corners of the capital city of Niamey in Niger.
Dosso at Niger is counted as the seventh most populated town of the country. Dosso is also the largest one of the towns in the Dosso Department. In 2001, the number of people inhibiting the town of Dosso of Niger was approximately equal to forty three thousand. This however got increased to forty seven thousand and four hundred by the end of 2004.
The major tourist attractions at the town of Dosso include the chieftain's compound which has now got transformed into a museum. The traditional chief at Dosso is styled as the Jermakoy or the Zarmakoy, which is one of the rarest autochthonous titles literally meaning the Jerma's owner. Zarma is the name of the most dominant ethnic group in Dosso. The main office-holders of Dosso are Kossom, Abdu, Alfa Atta, Atiqu, Awta, Musa, Saidu, Mumuni and Saidu Isufu Saidu.
