Many establishments in Cuba do not accept US dollars any longer. You may be charged an extra 10% for converting US dollars. Do carry enough of the local pesos.

Buy Cuban cigars only from official shops as there are many fake cigars available in the market. Ask your guide or hotel to take direct you to an official shop.
Drinking tap water is not safe; the locals also boil their water before drinking. It's best to drink bottled water which is available.
