Sasebo Map

The city of Sasebo one of the main cities of Nagasaki prefecture is bestowed with the blessings of Mother Nature. The city of Sasebo between the snowcapped mountains and the turquoise ocean has fascinated many tourists over the years.
This port city was a village of 800 households during the Yedo period and with the formation of the dockyard Sasebo witnessed a population outburst. The Second World War made the city all the more important as it evolved as one of the major ship producing cities of Japan .

The main points of attraction in Sasebo are Kujuku Islands, Saikai Bridge, Huis Ten Bosch and Saikai national park. Kujuku Islands mesmerizes everyone who visits the place during sunrise or sunset. The word'Kujuku' means ninety nine and the place is an archipelago of ninety nine islands literally. The two mountain peaks near Sasebo called Yumihari and Eboshi are also a famous tourist destination.

The view of the harbor area of the city from the mountain peak is invigorating and exceptional. The wonderful blend of mountain and the sea gives the vacationers a lot of choice to explore and activities to participate in.

The American influence on this port city is so significant that buildings of American style and restaurants serving typical American dishes are very common. Pottery and fishing are two main indigenous and age old industries till now surviving in Sasebo . The vicinity to the sea has made sea food delicacies special in Sasebo and there are numerous restaurants which serve up these toothsome dishes.
