Kobe Map

Kobe is one of the most significant port cites of Japan. The city of Kobe falls within the Hyogo Prefecture. Every year many tourists from around the world flock to this port city to enjoy the extraordinary scenic beauty of the Rokko Mountain range and the sea. The port of Kobe is a seat of international trade since the end of the 19 th century.
Due to the presence of the international port this city unlike most of the cities of Japan has a cosmopolitan population. The city of Kobe had also enjoyed the status of a capital city of Japan for a brief time period in the 12 th century. The Port Tower located near the port is a major landmark of the city of Kobe. The other thing which has given international recognition to Kobe is the beef found there.

Kobe has its very own Chinatown known as Nankinmachi which draws significant amount of visitors every year. For a laid back evening a stroll around the Meriken Park and the Kobe Harborland can be opted.

Kobe had faced a severe earthquake in 1995 and the citizens have set up a museum in commemoration of that earthquake. Most of the residents and tourists choose a weekend in Arima Onsen which is a hot spring resort located near the city. Many studies have attributed Kobe with the status of best habitable place in Japan. Due to the western influence, Kobe was the first city in Japan to have a golf course.

Many world famous multinational companies have made Kobe their home due to the port, its cosmopolitan culture and wonderful infrastructure.
