Tropical Cyclone Chapala to dump huge amount of rain on Yemen

Yemen is being battered by Tropical Cyclone Chapala, which hit the country’s central coast on early Tuesday. According to media reports, Cyclone Chapala had winds of around 140 kph. The cyclone is expected to dump huge volumes of rain in the country. It is expected that Yemen, which normally receives an annual rainfall of 100 millimeters, which get some more than two to three times than that within a day. This will probably cause flash flooding.

Oct 29, 2015 - The depression over East-central and adjoining West-Central Arabian Sea that was noticed yesterday has overnight developed into tropical cyclone Chapala. According to media reports, the cyclone is currently located around approximately 1,150 east-southeast of Oman and some 1,080 km southwest of Mumbai. It is predicted that over the next three four days, Chapala will develop into an extremely severe cyclone. It is expected that Chapala will weaken a round as a 'very severe cyclone' before it approaches Yemen and adjoining Oman coast by November 2.
