Hurricane Otto: May Make Landfall in Some Hours
According to sources, hurricane Otto is just some hours away to make a landfall between the border of Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides are expected once it makes the landfall on Thursday. With 105 mph winds it has become a Category 2 hurricane.
The warning of the hurricane continues from Limon, Costa Rica, to Bluefields, Nicaragua.
Hurricane Otto: National Emergency Declared in Costa Rica
Category 1 hurricane Otto has strengthened over the Caribbean coast and heading towards the land. Costa Rica's president has declared a national emergency and many people are being evacuated from Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Hospitals in the affected regions are transferring patients to other hospitals in safer areas. Heavy rains are expected today, which may remain till Friday.
Hurricane Otto: Costa Rica and Nicaragua Under Threat
As mentioned by a forecaster, hurricane Otto is threatening Costa Rica and southern Nicaragua. It is being predicted that this hurricane with winds of 90 mph may make a landfall on Thursday. It is expected that the storm may create numerous mudslides after it makes a landfall on Thursday and then will cross over into the Pacific.
Hurricane Otto Approaches Central America, Kills Three
According to Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela, hurricane Otto has approached Central America, killing three people, while four are missing in Panama. Otto is now a category 1 storm. Its center is more than 100 miles north of Panama City. It is expected that the outer band of rains will bring 4 to 8 inches to Southern Costa Rica and Panama on Wednesday.
Reports also say that hurricane Otto may become category 2 storm and will make landfall near the border of Nicaragua-Costa Rica by Thursday.
Tropical Storm Otto Could Become Hurricane
As per reports from National Hurricane Center, tropical storm Otto, with 50 mph and gusts up to 65 mph formed in the southern Caribbean Sea on Monday. It may change to hurricane category 1 by Wednesday. It may also make a landfall near the border of Nicaragua and Costa Rica by Thursday.
Forecasters say heavy rains with storm could fall in Panama and Costa Rica by the end of this week.
