Typhoon Megi Slams Taiwan: Many Killed and Injured  

Sep 28, 2016 01:00 AM (ET):  Powerful typhoon Megi smashed the northeastern coastline of Taiwan, killing four people and injuring at least 524 on Tuesday. According to Taiwan's Central News Agency, schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday. The financial markets will remain closed for the second day. Around 38 inches (1000 millimeters) of rain fell in Yilan County and left over 2,700,000 homes without electricity. As per reports, around 1400 people were evacuated from the mountainous regions of the country.

 

Typhoon Megi Slams Taiwan

Sep 27, 2016 6:00 AM (ET): Typhoon Megi, which is the third storm system in the island in two weeks, smashed Taiwan on Tuesday. With packing winds of 115 mph (185 kph) and gusts of 144 kph (230 kph), the typhoon brought high rainfall. There are risks of landslides in the area. According to meteorologist Michael Guy, the storm is a dangerous typhoon which may leave behind heavy rainfall in the island. The typhoon is equivalent to three hurricanes, and might make a landfall in eastern China's Fujian in next 24 hours.
