KOF Index of Globalization is an annual report published by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. The report accesses the rate of globalization in nations across the world. The index is based on three dimensions, which are – economic, social, and political. Through these dimensions, the Index of Globalization measures the economic restrictions, data on personal contact, data on information flows, actual economic flows and data on cultural proximity. The index measures globalization on a scale of 1 to 100.

According to the 2017 KOF Index of Globalization, the Netherlands is the most globalized nation in the world. The nation scored 92.84 out of 100 point. Ireland was the second most globalized country and scored 92.15 points. Belgium and the Netherlands came at the third and fourth spot and scored 91.75 and 90.05 points respectively.

Nations that scored between 70 and 90 were Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Finland, Germany, Canada, Australia, the United States, New Zealand, Malaysia, and a few other countries.

Among the BRICS nations, Russia is the most globalized economy scoring 68.25, while India is the least with a score of 52.38. The other BRCIS nation of South Africa, which scored 66.72 is the most globalized nation among African countries.

Meanwhile, the countries that are placed at the bottom of the list and have scored less than 30 points on the KOF Index of Globalization are the Federated States of Micronesia, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, and the Solomon Islands.
