Grenoble is referred to as the intellectual and economic capital of the Alps. The scenic city is surrounded by snow-capped mountains. According to 2005 estimates, the population of the city is 157,500, with a density of 8,456 per square kilometer.

Transportation: The Grenoble-St-Geoirs airport handles all the domestic flights. All the international flights to Grenoble operate from Lyon-St Exupery airport.

The bus station is located next to the train station. It is the main terminus for several bus companies. The modern train station is located next to the Gare Europole tram stop.From Paris Gare de Lyon, it takes around 3 hours by train on the TGV. Within Grenoble there's a comprehensive bus and tram service. Semitag runs this service. In total, 26 bus lines and 3 tramlines serve Grenoble.
