On August 9, 2017, North Korea threatened the United States to launch a missile strike on the US territory of Guam. The North Korean threat came after the US President Donald Trump had warned the reclusive state “fire and fury like the world has never seen”. Guam comprises a number of US strategic military installations. The North Korean plan involved creating an enveloping fire around the US territory with the use of medium-to-long range ballistic missiles.
