The June 8 snap election held in the United Kingdom resulted in a hung parliament. Despite winning most seats, UK PM Theresa May's Conservative Party lost its majority to form an effective government. The snap election was called by May to consolidate her power. 326 seats were needed to form the government; however, the Tories won only 318 seats. The Labour Party won 262 seats.
