The 2015 Pan American Games, also called the Toronto 2015 Pan-Am Games, were held from July 10 to 26 in Toronto, Canada. These were the third such games hosted by Canada, and the first in Ontario province. The Games hosted 6,132 athletes from 41 National Olympic Committees in the Americas, making them the largest multi-sport event hosted in Canada. A total of 364 events were contested in 36 disciplines. Golf made its debut in the Pan American Games; so did canoe slalom. For the first time both canoe disciplines included C-1 events for women. The other events to make their debut were women's baseball and women's rugby sevens. Men's softball returned to the tournament, the first time being in 2003. The US led the medals tally with 103 gold medals, 82 silver and 80 bronze, winning a total of 265 medals. Hosts Canada came second with 78 gold, 70 silver and 71 bronze, while Brazil with 42 gold medals stood third.
