The 11th Edition of the Cricket World Cup was held from February 14, 2015 to March 29, 2015. The tournament was jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. Fourteen teams competed for the World Cup and played 49 matches in 14 venues. India, which had won the tournament in 2011, was the defending champions; however, they were trounced by Australia in the semi-finals. The finals were held between Australia and New Zealand, which had defeated South Africa in the semi-finals. In the finals Australia defeated New Zealand.
