White House race virtually tied in four crucial states

The presidential race between Democratic incumbent Barack Obama and his Republican rival Mitt Romney is virtually tied in four of the key battleground states expected to decide next week's election.

However, Obama has eked out a marginal lead in Virginia, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Thursday.

Obama leads Romney by five percentage points among likely voters in Virginia, at 49 percent to 44 percent.

Obama also has two-point leads among likely voters in both Ohio and Florida, leaving those races statistically tied.

Meanwhile, Romney leads by one point in Colorado, at 47 to 46 percent, which is essentially another dead heat.

Obama led Romney by one percentage point nationally in the Reuters/Ipsos daily tracking poll conducted from October 28 to November 1.

Obama has remained at 47 percent and Romney at 46 percent in the online poll for three consecutive days.
