Romney extends lead over Obama in Reuters/Ipsos poll

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney extended his lead over President Barack Obama to 3 percentage points, according to a Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll released on Thursday.

With less than a month to go before the November 6 election, Romney now leads the Democratic incumbent by 47 percent to 44 percent among likely voters in

The Republican recorded a one-point lead over Obama in the poll on Wednesday, his first in more than a month.

Romney has enjoyed a steady campaign run following his strong performance in the first presidential debate last week.

Meanwhile, Obama was slated for appearing hesitant and failing to grab opportunities to attack his opponent on his business record at Bain Capital, the "47 percent" video and his refusal to release more income tax returns.

Two presidential debates still remain: a town-hall style foreign policy debate on October 16 in Hempstead, New York and a final debate on October 22 in Boca Raton, Florida.
