Republicans showcase Romney as Isaac overshadows convention

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney has arrived in Tampa to join fellow Republicans looking to make the most out of their shortened convention and prevent his message from being drowned out as Tropical Storm Isaac nears.

On the first full day of business, delegates will formally affirm Romney as the party's nominee in an evening marked by prime time speeches by Romney's wife, Ann, and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

Romney had originally planned to arrive in Tampa on Thursday to accept his nomination but decided to fly in on Tuesday for his wife's appearance.

The Republicans have a tough task on their hands as they seek to help Romney make an aggressive, memorable argument against Democratic President Barack Obama while showing their concern to those at risk from the storm.
