Obama admits he was "too polite" towards Romney in first debate

President Barack Obama admitted on Wednesday that he was “too polite” during last week’s debate with Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Speaking on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, Obama told radio listeners: "I was just too polite". He added that voters should expect "a little more activity" in next week’s second debate.

Obama also touched on his hopes for the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Romney’s running mate, Paul Ryan.

The sole vice presidential debate takes place later this evening in Danville, Kentucky.

Biden is under increasing pressure to boost the Obama campaign after the Democratic incumbent was outclassed by Romney.

The pressure on Ryan, who has never debated at a national level before, is also high as Romney greatly surpassed expectations
