NRA launches anti-Obama ad campaign in swing states

The National Rifle Association (NRA) has started airing a new television ad in four battleground states urging voters to defeat President Barack Obama.

The pro-gun-rights group has spent $1.3 million to air the ad in Florida, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin.

A spokesman said the group will be on the air with ads up until November 6.

The NRA ad suggests Obama is "attacking our Second Amendment rights" and says a vote against the Democratic incumbent would help "defend freedom."

The group has endorsed Mitt Romney, despite the fact the Republican candidate signed a ban on assault weapons as Massachusetts governor.

Obama has not pushed for gun control measures during his term and has signed laws allowing people to carry concealed weapons in national parks and in checked bags on Amtrak trains.
